Latest Updates from Our Project:

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
about 2 years ago – Sun, Mar 17, 2024 at 11:18:48 AM

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I will definitely be watching one or all of the following animations-The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, and Wolfwalkers-with my daughters. It's become a tradition.

Green is the official color of St. Patrick's Day and a symbol of Irish defiance, and I can't think of a monster more defiant (or green) than our loveably Frank.

Frank, a founding monster of our school, wears green always. They have the biggest heart of the whole team, but is also the most deadly in hand-to-ax combat. Dr. M tried to force Frank to be his monster, but Frank defiantly refused, only coming to life when Necro and Shel cast their powerful spell.

Below is the campaign sticker designed by Mark Mactal that all physical backers will be receiving with their rewards. Mark is one of the artists on my Pistil comics series. He is also wonderful at illustrating and designing pins, stickers and other merch.

Mark illustrated the campaign Necro enamel pin, as well as the School Crest pin. Necro is the glue that holds the whole team and school together. She is the Necronomicon but like you've never seen the powerful book before.  Both pins are available as an add-ons.

I do have a free horror story about the Irish monster, Dullahan, over on my Monster of the Week substack. Travel over there if you feel like a creepy trip to Ireland.

Snow Paw, the campaign we have a crossover promo  sticker with, is also offering a special St. Patrick's Day print for all backers so if you love werewolves and art prints, go check them out today to grab that print. If you back both our campaigns, you will also get this adorable sticker of Snow Paw and Barg illustrated by Mark.

Until next time!

Another comic project that looks so fun to me is Dungeons & Dimwits.

I am a huge fan of Jumanji and this comic is definitely set in a world where the game takes over and the players are fighting for their lives.

Dungeons & Dimwits - Issues 1-3

All the insanity of playing a TTRPG in a group thrown into a hilarious comic book!

Another Stretch Goal Unlocked!
about 2 years ago – Fri, Mar 15, 2024 at 12:14:59 PM

Hello all,

We've hit or next funding goal of 4K which means we're  starting to recoup our production costs of this comic, not just the printing cost! This means we can continue to make more of these books. It also means we're unlocking another bonus item for all backers.

You will all receive a short story that I wrote this year called A Monster on Mole's Hill. It is a middle grade dystopian horror set in the world of The Wind in the Willows.

The story was written for a middle grade horror anthology that is being published by Harper Collins in association with the HWA. My story made it to the final 18 but ultimately was too different from the others in the collection. I'm a big fan of writing about the environment through sci-fi and horror. I love this cautionary tale I told in the world of this classic children's book. I'm gifting a preview copy to all of you to celebrate this funding milestone. Right now, this is the only place to read this story.

In a Monster on Mole's Hill, Mole and Rat must track down an ancient, elusive monster to save their river from devastating human-made fires and pollution. Yes, Toad makes an appearance and is careless as usual. This story serves as a warning of what could happen if we don't start listening to mother nature and change our reckless ways. If you are interested in reading a bit about the monster that will be featured in this story, check out more about him on my Monster of the Week Substack.

Thank you again for being part of bringing this comic to life!

More soon!

Jessica

Kickstarter Projects We Love that I also dig:

Most of you know, I love all things horror, adventure and mythology - werewolves are no exception. This comic had me at Gilgamesh.

Lycan: Solomon's Odyssey Chapters 1-3

A mix of horror, adventure, & mythology, the third chapter in the story of the world's first werewolf, is Gilgamesh meets HP Lovecraft.

I also really dig horror that is set on or around the Winter Solstice and this project is no different.

Long Dark Winter #1 - An Appalachian Horror

For Sheriff Ted Fallon, the shortest day of the year becomes the longest night of his life. 24 pages of horror!
